Thank you Tony, points 2 and 4 resonate.

Regarding point 2; we explain the gospel and THEN help people deal with their objections or give clarity to the questions that they may have, but I also want to agree somewhat with point 4, giving people confidence to talk about Jesus.

I have found that while we need to remind and motivate people of the power of the gospel to transform lives (2 Corinthians 4) it has been helpful to give people confidence to answer any objections and questions that people might have by dealing with these apologetic questions. It kind of helps them have the confidence to launch out into the world looking for opportunities to talk about Jesus.

BUT, having said that, we could spend ages on this, there are so many issues to investigate, that we never actually get around to equipping people to talk about Jesus!

Bottom line - gospel/Jesus first, questions/apologetics second
